The Organizational Assessments and Improvement Division (MMP) serves as professional consultants for all levels of the Air Force, helping mission partners improve their performance.  We provide professional, holistic consulting services in Organizational Maturity Model administration and analyses, Continuous Improvement & Innovation, and Strategic Planning. These services are available across the DoD. We also support short notice Air Force and Department of Defense (DoD) initiatives outside the scope of other AFMAA functions.

Organization Maturity Model (OMM) Assessment – The OMM framework helps organizations assess their efforts to achieve operational excellence, to diagnose their overall performance management systems, and to identify their strengths and opportunities for improvement. Experienced professionals normalize data from activities into a common language that forms a baseline for measuring improvement.  The OMM assesses four areas:  1) Standardized Processes 2) Data Driven Decision-Making 3) Resource Management and 4) Organization Design. It measures an organization's maturity by comparing the organization's input to the OMM criteria against a standardized framework and scale.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation (CI²) – Certified, professional practitioners use widely accepted tools, techniques, and methodologies to facilitate C1² efforts across the Air Force.  Methodologies include Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, Business Process Reengineering, and Design Thinking. Each method is applied with the goal being the elimination of waste, the reduction of variation in the way the good or service is delivered, and making enduring improvements to the way the Air Force conducts its business.

Strategic Planning & Execution – An organizational management activity used to set priorities, focus organizational energy and resources, strengthen operations, ensure that employees and other stakeholders are working toward common goals, establish agreement around intended outcomes, results, and assess and adjust the organization's direction in response to a changing environment. AFMAA’s experts have facilitated strategic planning efforts across all organizational levels, to include Squadron, Wing, MAJCOM, FOA, and even Headquarters Air Force. 

Special Projects - Some projects do not fit a template found in other services. AFMAA's professional consultants use their diverse skills and abilities to assess and determine the best courses of action in a wide variety of scenarios that may encompass non-traditional functions or emerging missions. Special projects/studies include cost-benefit analysis, the application of advanced statistical/mathematical concepts to analyze business-related data, change management facilitation, and other complex efforts.
